Majano
Anemones - I first saw these in a fellow aquarist tank and
thought... wow those look really nice they were green and had red
spots on them and were only about the size of a dime so I persuaded
him to scrap me 3 of them out of his tank. Well I hurried home
and put them into my tank hoping they would grow, well they
disappeared at first but before I knew it my entire tank was
infested with them. My SPS corals were dieing faster than I
could remove the anemones, they would propagate at the base of the
SPS corals then slowly move up the branches killing as they went
along. As of right now (02/16/2008) I have mostly eradicated
them thanks to a needle and lots of kalk paste, it seems injecting
them directly with a concentrated kalk paste kills them 80% of the
time, the other 20% split and multiply. Update 02-18-09 Wel
Kalk paste ended up not working out they just kept splitting and
multiplying, I also tried hot water it worked for a short time but
not long enough. NOW I have a Racoon Butterfly and within a matter
of 2 weeks I now have no more Majanos!!! Maybe one or 2 in a hole in
the rock but other than that NOTHING. Success!!! So far *knock on
wood* the butterfly has not bothered of my SPS that I can tell anyway. |
